Pastor's Weekly Message
My dear brothers and sisters in Jesus,

Where were you exactly one year ago today (September 1, 2009)? Honestly, think back and see if you can remember what you were doing. The answer for me is easy, I was attending classes at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, WI.

Ok, let's make this tougher. Where were you exactly five years ago today (September 1, 2005)? For me, this is more difficult to remember, but I believe that I was at my friend's resort in Eagle River, WI for a Labor Day weekend of fun.

Ok, let's get even tougher. Where were you exactly ten years ago today (September 1, 2000)? I'm really testing your memories now. I'm not quite sure for myself, but I think I was gearing up for the first football game of my junior year of high school in New Ulm, MN.

Now as you look back over ten years of your life, has your life stayed exactly the same? Were you doing the same things last year that you did ten years ago? Are the same people in your life now that were there five years ago? NO WAY! Our lives are constantly changing. We may live in different places or homes. We may have different jobs or interests . Our families may have grown. Our families may have shrunk. And many more good and bad, happy and sad changes may have taken place in our lives.

But there is one thing that hasn't changed from one year ago or five years ago or even ten years ago. It's Jesus. Hebrews 13:8 says, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." As we change, he doesn't. And thank goodness! Each day only brings with it a plethora of opportunities to sin. Each step and stage of life only brings new challenges. Each year of life only brings us one year closer to death. But Jesus is there every step of the way. He is there with a love that has never changed...a love which showed itself on the cross...a love which assures us we are forgiven...a love which sustains us in life's changes and challenges.....and a love which will comfort us even in death.

May our changeless Savior and his changeless Word guide and comfort you every day of your ever-changing lives!

Pastor Russow
